Pre ceremony photos at the Auckland Domain

I often get asked about end of year weddings not held during the usual busy ‘summer wedding time of year’ this is a perfect example of a winter wedding with pre ceremony wedding photos taken in Auckland city, at the Auckland Museum and Auckland domain featuring the domain’s winter gardens.

Luke & Xiamin’s wedding was on a rainy day last September  typically the start of my NZ wedding season. I absolutely love end of year weddings because you get this brilliant filtered light and nobody is sweating!
When I first connected with Luke & Xiamin we chatted about their day and what they wanted their wedding to feel like, they wanted simple no stress pre ceremony photos followed by a small ceremony.
Xiamin wanted to honour her heritage by wearing a red wedding dress. Red plays a vital role in Chinese weddings, because this colour is associated with success, loyalty, honor, fertility, and love. This was really important to the couple, I loved how gorgeous the colour of her dress shone with its surroundings during photos.

The Ceremony itself took place later in the day at the courthouse, they opted for an intimate dinner reception to ensure they could give their loved ones all a bit of quality time on the day.
